It's really time for me to wake up my idea and reorganise my sermon notes. I realised that I have been slacking for many weeks liao. ~hai~

创世记 ~第十七章~

17:1
亚 伯 兰 年 九 十 九 岁 的 时 候 ， 耶 和 华 向 他 显 现 ， 对 他 说 ， 我 是 全 能 的 神 。 你 当 在 我 面 前 作 完 全 人 ，

17:2
我 就 与 你 立 约 ， 使 你 的 后 裔 极 其 繁 多 。

17:3
亚 伯 兰 俯 伏 在 地 。 神 又 对 他 说 ，

17:4
我 与 你 立 约 ， 你 要 作 多 国 的 父 。

17:5
从 此 以 后 ， 你 的 名 不 再 叫 亚 伯 兰 ， 要 叫 亚 伯 拉 罕 ， 因 为 我 已 立 你 作 多 国 的 父 。

17:6
我 必 使 你 的 后 裔 极 其 繁 多 。 国 度 从 你 而 立 ， 君 王 从 你 而 出 。

17:7
我 要 与 你 并 你 世 世 代 代 的 后 裔 坚 立 我 的 约 ， 作 永 远 的 约 ， 是 要 作 你 和 你 后 裔 的 神 。

17:8
我 要 将 你 现 在 寄 居 的 地 ， 就 是 迦 南 全 地 ， 赐 给 你 和 你 的 后 裔 永 远 为 业 ， 我 也 必 作 他 们 的 神 。

17:9
神 又 对 亚 伯 拉 罕 说 ， 你 和 你 的 后 裔 ， 必 世 世 代 代 遵 守 我 的 约 。

17:10
你 们 所 有 的 男 子 ， 都 要 受 割 礼 。 这 就 是 我 与 你 ， 并 你 的 后 裔 所 立 的 约 ， 是 你 们 所 当 遵 守 的 。

17:11
你 们 都 要 受 割 礼 （ 受 割 礼 原 文 作 割 阳 皮 。 14 ， 23 ， 24 ， 25节 同 ） ， 这 是 我 与 你 们 立 约 的 证 据 。

17:12
你 们 世 世 代 代 的 男 子 ， 无 论 是 家 里 生 的 ， 是 在 你 后 裔 之 外 用 银 子 从 外 人 买 的 ， 生 下 来 第 八 日 ， 都 要 受 割 礼 。

17:13
你 家 里 生 的 和 你 用 银 子 买 的 ， 都 必 须 受 割 礼 。 这 样 ， 我 的 约 就 立 在 你 们 肉 体 上 作 永 远 的 约 。

17:14
但 不 受 割 礼 的 男 子 ， 必 从 民 中 剪 除 ， 因 他 背 了 我 的 约 。

17:15
神 又 对 亚 伯 拉 罕 说 ， 你 的 妻 子 撒 莱 ， 不 可 再 叫 撒 莱 ， 她 的 名 要 叫 撒 拉 。

17:16
我 必 赐 福 给 她 ， 也 要 使 你 从 她 得 一 个 儿 子 。 我 要 赐 福 给 她 ， 她 也 要 作 多 国 之 母 。 必 有 百 姓 的 君 王 从 她 而 出 。

17:17
亚 伯 拉 罕 就 俯 伏 在 地 喜 笑 ， 心 里 说 ， 一 百 岁 的 人 还 能 得 孩 子 吗 ？ 撒 拉 已 经 九 十 岁 了 ， 还 能 生 养 吗 ？

17:18
亚 伯 拉 罕 对 神 说 ， 但 愿 以 实 玛 利 活 在 你 面 前 。

17:19
神 说 ， 不 然 ， 你 妻 子 撒 拉 要 给 你 生 一 个 儿 子 ， 你 要 给 他 起 名 叫 以 撒 。 我 要 与 他 坚 定 所 立 的 约 ， 作 他 后 裔 永 远 的 约 。

17:20
至 于 以 实 玛 利 ， 我 也 应 允 你 ， 我 必 赐 福 给 他 ， 使 他 昌 盛 极 其 繁 多 ， 他 必 生 十 二 个 族 长 ， 我 也 要 使 他 成 为 大 国 。

17:21
到 明 年 这 时 节 ， 撒 拉 必 给 你 生 以 撒 ， 我 要 与 他 坚 定 所 立 的 约 。

神 和 亚 伯 拉 罕 说 完 了 话 ， 就 离 开 他 上 升 去 了 。

17:23
正 当 那 日 ， 亚 伯 拉 罕 遵 着 神 的 命 ， 给 他 的 儿 子 以 实 玛 利 和 家 里 的 一 切 男 子 ， 无 论 是 在 家 里 生 的 ， 是 用 银 子 买 的 ， 都 行 了 割 礼 。

17:24
亚 伯 拉 罕 受 割 礼 的 时 候 ， 年 九 十 九 岁 。

17:25
他 儿 子 以 实 玛 利 受 割 礼 的 时 候 ， 年 十 三 岁 。

17:26
正 当 那 日 ， 亚 伯 拉 罕 和 他 儿 子 以 实 玛 利 ， 一 同 受 了 割 礼 。

17:27
家 里 所 有 的 人 ， 无 论 是 在 家 里 生 的 ， 是 用 银 子 从 外 人 买 的 ， 也 都 一 同 受 了 割 礼 。

我们事奉的乃是主基督

To build on further on my previous post and also to be inline with my church series of sermons this month, I will just like to share what I have learnt from a fellow brother in the LORD, Max Lucado that we have two bosses: one who signs our checks and one who saves our souls. The second has keen interest in our workaday world. What if everyone worked with God in mind? Suppose no one worked to satisfy self or please the bottom line but everyone worked to please God.

Praise the LORD! Because many occupations would instantly cease: drug trafficking, thievery, prostitution, nightclub and casino management. Certain cases, by their nature, cannot please God. These would cease.

Imagine if everyone worked for the audience of One. Every nurse, thoughtful. Every officer, careful. Every professor, insightful. Every salesperson, delightful. Every teacher, hopeful. Every lawyer, skillful.

Impossible? Not entirely. All we need is someone to start a worldwide revolution. That someone will come from our Family, a Christian. (Christ, I Am Nothing)

出来社会打拼为了什么？

Six months plus in the working world with three months spent serving in the night shift makes me wonder at times why do we spend more than half of our lives working it away? 2 Thessalonians 3:10 says that if a man will not work, he shall not eat. Work to eat then eat to work. The cycle continues. Work to put bread on the table. That is the main thing.

God tells us to work as He is the one who instructed Adam (the very first man) to work in the Garden of Eden. As I thought through, I realized that it is true that everyone needs to work or else you cannot even get to your working place because there will be no bus drivers to drive you there in the first place. Every one of us has to do our part by serving our job scopes well. This will benefit everyone in this society.

You may just be a road sweeper. However, I will not be able to imagine a world without road sweepers. Can you? The so called lowest grade of job that you can think of is often an occupation which the world cannot do without. We need everyone to work together in this big body so that we can move forward together. All we each need to do is to play the role which we are given well. That is it.

Hence, why do I come out into the working world? It is simply to benefit the rest in this same working world. You too have a part to play. Let’s continue to play our parts well, shall we?

俺的感觉

My feelings or rather to put it simply - my feel. Working in the night shift is indeed very tiring and sometimes you just feel like dazing around in the daytime. The feeling is high especially right now as I tell myself to stay awake as I will be having cell group at my place later at 10am. The feeling of not sleeping for more than 20 hours has happened to me before and right now it seems like this feeling is coming to me sooner than I thought.

Struggles? Yes. In a major dilemma? You can say that again. I struggle about going to cell groups and church services when I started to work in the night shift two months back. The struggles are still ever present today. The dilemma is this: If I want to stay awake and alert during cell meetings and church services, my alertness at work will suffer. The result is I may incur heavy losses for my company. To swing to the other side of the pendulum is this: If I want to stay awake and alert during my work, I will have to miss cell meetings and church services because I simply need to sleep to recharge my mind.

What should I do?

If I hang on to both, there will be a high possibility that I will stay awake for 24 hours. The result is both will suffer.

The best is still leaving everything to Christ who will make a way out for me. Pray for me whenever you are unable to sleep at 2, 3 or 4am. Deeply appreciate your kind prayers for me. Thanks!

16:1
亚 伯 兰 的 妻 子 撒 莱 不 给 他 生 儿 女 。 撒 莱 有 一 个 使 女 ， 名 叫 夏 甲 ， 是 埃 及 人 。

16:2
撒 莱 对 亚 伯 兰 说 ， 耶 和 华 使 我 不 能 生 育 。 求 你 和 我 的 使 女 同 房 ， 或 者 我 可 以 因 她 得 孩 子 （ 得 孩 子 原 文 作 被 建 立 ） 。 亚 伯 兰 听 从 了 撒 莱 的 话 。

16:3
于 是 亚 伯 兰 的 妻 子 撒 莱 将 使 女 埃 及 人 夏 甲 给 了 丈 夫 为 妾 。 那 时 亚 伯 兰 在 迦 南 已 经 住 了 十 年 。

16:4
亚 伯 兰 与 夏 甲 同 房 ， 夏 甲 就 怀 了 孕 。 她 见 自 己 有 孕 ， 就 小 看 她 的 主 母 。

16:5
撒 莱 对 亚 伯 兰 说 ， 我 因 你 受 屈 。 我 将 我 的 使 女 放 在 你 怀 中 ， 她 见 自 己 有 了 孕 ， 就 小 看 我 。 愿 耶 和 华 在 你 我 中 间 判 断 。

16:6
亚 伯 兰 对 撒 莱 说 ， 使 女 在 你 手 下 ， 你 可 以 随 意 待 她 。 撒 莱 苦 待 她 ， 她 就 从 撒 莱 面 前 逃 走 了 。

16:7
耶 和 华 的 使 者 在 旷 野 书 珥 路 上 的 水 泉 旁 遇 见 她 ，

16:8
对 她 说 ， 撒 莱 的 使 女 夏 甲 ， 你 从 哪 里 来 ， 要 往 哪 里 去 。 夏 甲 说 ， 我 从 我 的 主 母 撒 莱 面 前 逃 出 来 。

16:9
耶 和 华 的 使 者 对 她 说 ， 你 回 到 你 主 母 那 里 ， 服 在 她 手 下 。

16:10
又 说 ， 我 必 使 你 的 后 裔 极 其 繁 多 ， 甚 至 不 可 胜 数 。

16:11
并 说 ， 你 如 今 怀 孕 要 生 一 个 儿 子 ， 可 以 给 他 起 名 叫 以 实 玛 利 ， 因 为 耶 和 华 听 见 了 你 的 苦 情 。 （ 以 实 玛 利 就 是 神 听 见 的 意 思 ）

16:12
他 为 人 必 像 野 驴 。 他 的 手 要 攻 打 人 ， 人 的 手 也 要 攻 打 他 。 他 必 住 在 众 弟 兄 的 东 边 。

16:13
夏 甲 就 称 那 对 她 说 话 的 耶 和 华 为 看 顾 人 的 神 。 因 而 说 ， 在 这 里 我 也 看 见 那 看 顾 我 的 吗 ？

16:14
所 以 这 井 名 叫 庇 耳 拉 海 莱 。 这 井 正 在 加 低 斯 和 巴 列 中 间 。

16:15
后 来 夏 甲 给 亚 伯 兰 生 了 一 个 儿 子 。 亚 伯 兰 给 他 起 名 叫 以 实 玛 利 。

16:16
夏 甲 给 亚 伯 兰 生 以 实 玛 利 的 时 候 ， 亚 伯 兰 年 八 十 六 岁 。

六个月的回忆

Today is 12 April 2007. It has been six months of being in the working life. Super fast paced. Everyday just passes by no matter whether you are struggling with your work, performing well or simply enjoying your time with your beloved colleagues. You start work at a certain time and before you know it (as you busied yourself with the daily chores), it’s time for you to knock off to go home to sleep. ~haha~

Six months in my company has left me with happy emotions. I feel quite at ease with my daily work and also have an enjoyable time working with my colleagues. Not because all of them are females but it is a good time to exchange our views on many issues including my beloved Saviour, Jesus Christ Himself during our supper and breakfast breaks. Coming from a variety of backgrounds, we certainly hold different views and it is a time of cross-cultural communication with people from Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan and China.

I thank God for helping me to be able to work in a pure Chinese environment. My stint in Shanghai back in 2005 was indeed a very good experience for me as I work in my current company. To converse in mandarin has now become the norm for me and sometimes I wonder when was the last time that I actually converse in English? Oh yes, in church definitely. Being in China for a period of six months has also enabled me to understand Chinese in a different light. This has also helped me to be able to work more closely with them. In short, the idea of teamwork stands out very strongly in my department. Hence to be able to work closely with people of different nationalities is very essential.

The trademark of my department is it possesses strong family values. Take a walk around my colleagues’ cubicles and you will be able to see them displaying the photographs of their spouses and many gifts from their other halves on their desks. Work late in the office and you can often see them calling their spouses to inform if they are coming back for dinner. Sometimes, they will stay back late in the office because they are waiting for their wives to knock off from work so that they can go home together. One colleague was even telling me that she was going back to prepare chicken soup for her husband who has worked for the past thirty-six hours.

Furthermore, some of my colleagues are even encouraging me to settle down early. (The married colleagues account for almost 90% in my department.) They even joked with me that the success rate of courting girls in our department is 100% - three of our department engineers courted three girls from the production side and all of them became their wives. However if I fail, the success rate will drop by 25%. ~haha~

It has been fun to work with my fellow colleagues. They are also jokers whom will laugh at your jokes no matter how cold they are or worst – lukewarmed! ~hehe~

Six months has gone by and soon I will not be a fresh grad anymore. I have told myself that whoever will be joining our department in the months ahead, I will want to be a great host to him / her and bridge them to our fantastic department culture.

There is a legend saying that if you bring your girlfriend to take a ride at a ferris wheel, the relationship will eventually end up in breakup. However, if you kiss your girlfriend at the highest point of the ferris wheel, it will end blissfully.

Don’t know how true this is. Maybe, it is just one of those crazy guy’s idea to steal a kiss from his girlfriend bah. If not, it will really be a dilemma if a Christian guy like me is saving the first kiss for the wedding itself. ~haha~

Anyway, the whole ride will last 37 minutes.

风水轮流转

This morning, I came back from work, feeling tired as usual although it had been a really quiet night. And you know what? Met my sister when I came out from the lift – she is about to go to work.

Haha, it is really a change of mood at this very instant for the both of us.

At least, I am on the relaxed side… just like whenever I need to passdown issues for the next LE to take over. The adjective to describe is just one word – relaxed.

People have been asking me when I am going back to normal shift. I simply replied, “Maybe after n months bah where n tends to infinity?”

亚 伯 兰 说 ， 主 耶 和 华 阿 ， 我 既 无 子 ， 你 还 赐 我 什 么 呢 ？ 并 且 要 承 受 我 家 业 的 是 大 马 色 人 以 利 以 谢 。

亚 伯 兰 又 说 ， 你 没 有 给 我 儿 子 。 那 生 在 我 家 中 的 人 就 是 我 的 后 嗣 。

耶 和 华 又 有 话 对 他 说 ， 这 人 必 不 成 为 你 的 后 嗣 。 你 本 身 所 生 的 才 成 为 你 的 后 嗣 。

15:5
于 是 领 他 走 到 外 边 ， 说 ， 你 向 天 观 看 ， 数 算 众 星 ， 能 数 得 过 来 吗 ？ 又 对 他 说 ， 你 的 后 裔 将 要 如 此 。

亚 伯 兰 信 耶 和 华 ， 耶 和 华 就 以 此 为 他 的 义 。

15:7
耶 和 华 又 对 他 说 ， 我 是 耶 和 华 ， 曾 领 你 出 了 迦 勒 底 的 吾 珥 ， 为 要 将 这 地 赐 你 为 业 。

15:8
亚 伯 兰 说 ， 主 耶 和 华 阿 ， 我 怎 能 知 道 必 得 这 地 为 业 呢 ？

他 说 ， 你 为 我 取 一 只 三 年 的 母 牛 ， 一 只 三 年 的 母 山 羊 ， 一 只 三 年 的 公 绵 羊 ， 一 只 斑 鸠 ， 一 只 雏 鸽 。

亚 伯 兰 就 取 了 这 些 来 ， 每 样 劈 开 ， 分 成 两 半 ， 一 半 对 着 一 半 地 摆 列 ， 只 有 鸟 没 有 劈 开 。

15:11
有 鸷 鸟 下 来 ， 落 在 那 死 畜 的 肉 上 ， 亚 伯 兰 就 把 它 吓 飞 了 。

15:12
日 头 正 落 的 时 候 ， 亚 伯 兰 沉 沉 地 睡 了 。 忽 然 有 惊 人 的 大 黑 暗 落 在 他 身 上 。

15:13
耶 和 华 对 亚 伯 兰 说 ， 你 要 的 确 知 道 ， 你 的 后 裔 必 寄 居 别 人 的 地 ， 又 服 事 那 地 的 人 。 那 地 的 人 要 苦 待 他 们 四 百 年 。

15:14
并 且 他 们 所 要 服 事 的 那 国 ， 我 要 惩 罚 ， 后 来 他 们 必 带 着 许 多 财 物 从 那 里 出 来 。

但 你 要 享 大 寿 数 ， 平 平 安 安 地 归 到 你 列 祖 那 里 ， 被 人 埋 葬 。

I was feeling very ‘high’ during Sunday Worship Service today. Half awake and half asleep feeling plus the rush of deep thoughts regarding my first love for Christ coming back to my mind makes me feel so ‘high’.

I can truly identify the pointers that were raised and be grateful to Jesus for calling me to be His witness at the exact location where I am right now…

这 五 王 都 在 西 订 谷 会 合 。 西 订 谷 就 是 盐 海 。

于 是 所 多 玛 王 ， 蛾 摩 拉 王 ， 押 玛 王 ， 洗 扁 王 ， 和 比 拉 王 （ 比 拉 就 是 琐 珥 ） 都 出 来 ， 在 西 订 谷 摆 阵 ， 与 他 们 交 战 ，

就 是 与 以 拦 王 基 大 老 玛 ， 戈 印 王 提 达 ， 示 拿 王 暗 拉 非 ， 以 拉 撒 王 亚 略 交 战 。 乃 是 四 王 与 五 王 交 战 。

14:10
西 订 谷 有 许 多 石 漆 坑 。 所 多 玛 王 和 蛾 摩 拉 王 逃 跑 ， 有 掉 在 坑 里 的 ， 其 余 的 人 都 往 山 上 逃 跑 。

14:11
四 王 就 把 所 多 玛 和 蛾 摩 拉 所 有 的 财 物 ， 并 一 切 的 粮 食 都 掳 掠 去 了 。

14:12
又 把 亚 伯 兰 的 侄 儿 罗 得 和 罗 得 的 财 物 掳 掠 去 了 。 当 时 罗 得 正 住 在 所 多 玛 。

14:13
有 一 个 逃 出 来 的 人 告 诉 希 伯 来 人 亚 伯 兰 。 亚 伯 兰 正 住 在 亚 摩 利 人 幔 利 的 橡 树 那 里 。 幔 利 和 以 实 各 并 亚 乃 都 是 弟 兄 ， 曾 与 亚 伯 兰 联 盟 。

14:14
亚 伯 兰 听 见 他 侄 儿 （ 原 文 作 弟 兄 ） 被 掳 去 ， 就 率 领 他 家 里 生 养 的 精 练 壮 丁 三 百 一 十 八 人 ， 直 追 到 但 ，

14:15
便 在 夜 间 ， 自 己 同 仆 人 分 队 杀 败 敌 人 ， 又 追 到 大 马 色 左 边 的 何 把 ，

14:16
将 被 掳 掠 的 一 切 财 物 夺 回 来 ， 连 他 侄 儿 罗 得 和 他 的 财 物 ， 以 及 妇 女 ， 人 民 也 都 夺 回 来 。

14:17
亚 伯 兰 杀 败 基 大 老 玛 和 与 他 同 盟 的 王 回 来 的 时 候 ， 所 多 玛 王 出 来 ， 在 沙 微 谷 迎 接 他 。 沙 微 谷 就 是 王 谷 。

14:18
又 有 撒 冷 王 麦 基 洗 德 带 着 饼 和 酒 出 来 迎 接 。 他 是 至 高 神 的 祭 司 。

14:19
他 为 亚 伯 兰 祝 福 ， 说 ， 愿 天 地 的 主 ， 至 高 的 神 赐 福 与 亚 伯 兰 。

14:20
至 高 的 神 把 敌 人 交 在 你 手 里 ， 是 应 当 称 颂 的 。 亚 伯 兰 就 把 所 得 的 拿 出 十 分 之 一 来 ， 给 麦 基 洗 德 。

14:21
所 多 玛 王 对 亚 伯 兰 说 ， 你 把 人 口 给 我 ， 财 物 你 自 己 拿 去 吧 。

14:22

金山之旅 - My Mount Ophir Trip

Dear Bro/Sis in Christ, thanks a lot for all your prayers. My colleagues and I made it eventually to the summit of Mount Ophir at 1325 hrs on 31 March 2007 (Singapore Time). The weather was sunny on the way up. Although, it did rain a bit when we were descending, the rain stopped after about 15 minutes. Thank God that we completed our mission and each of us earned this certificate of honour! ~haha~

The photos will be uploaded as soon as I can get hold of the SD card from my colleague. So stay tuned. =)
